Client in the Spotlight: Radsource, LLC
When Melanie Meadows, Senior Director of Marketing & Communications at Radsource, reached out to us for ongoing website support, we knew we were signing on with someone who had a lot on her plate. As a department of one managing two websites—each vital to Radsource’s success—Melanie relies on Berry Interesting not just for technical support, but as a true partner who can navigate complex digital decisions on her behalf.
In mid-2024, we helped Radsource migrate both their public-facing marketing site and their internal customer support wiki to a new hosting provider. While this might sound like a purely technical process, in this case, it was anything but. What made this project special wasn’t just the improved performance metrics or cost savings, but the peace of mind we were able to deliver to Melanie, who no longer had to advocate for a solution she knew was necessary—but wasn’t positioned to argue for effectively.
The Challenge: A Legacy Hosting Choice That No Longer Fit
Radsource’s two websites are foundational to their operations. The marketing site drives brand visibility, facilitates client relationships, and supports the company’s leadership position in the MRI interpretation field. The wiki site, on the other hand, functions as a customer-facing knowledge base, enabling efficient client support.
We first started working with Radsource when they needed urgent help migrating their internal wiki site to WordPress. Their previous knowledge base was built on outdated, unsupported software, putting a critical customer resource at risk. We helped them transition to a more stable, modern platform, ensuring they could continue serving their clients efficiently. (Want to learn more about how we tackled that challenge? Read the full case study here.)
Having seen the impact of that transformation firsthand, Melanie entrusted us with an even larger challenge: helping them optimize their hosting environment for both sites. Unfortunately, both sites were still hosted on WP Engine, a platform that Radsource’s IT department had selected years ago. While WP Engine may have been the right choice at the time, it was no longer meeting their needs. The hosting environment was expensive, performance was lagging, and Radsource’s IT team frequently relied on Melanie’s department (and BIPi) for help troubleshooting dashboard glitches and unexplained slowdowns.
Despite these challenges, advocating for a change wasn’t straightforward. IT had ownership of the original hosting decision, and Melanie—though highly skilled in her role — didn’t have the technical background, the authority, or the time in her day (!) to challenge that decision effectively. That’s where Berry Interesting stepped in.
The Solution: Advocacy + Execution
When we suggested migrating Radsource’s sites to SiteDistrict hosting, Melanie trusted our expertise. But convincing the C-Suite (and IT, in particular) required more than just technical know-how—it required strategic communication, clearly articulated benefits, and bringing together multiple departments for planning and execution.
We handled drafting the internal messaging for Melanie, framing the discussion in terms of cost savings, performance improvements, and reduced risk. By positioning the migration as a business-first decision rather than a technical one, we were able to gain buy-in from stakeholders across the organization.
Once everyone was on board, we got to work. Our team led the entire migration process, from creating clones of the sites to testing them in the new hosting environment to coordinating DNS updates and mail handling changes with IT. We ensured that the migration was seamless, with zero downtime for site visitors, no disruptions to Melanie’s marketing efforts, and minimal disruptions to mail handling services.
Most importantly, Melanie didn’t have to worry about the technical weeds—or about how to “sell” the idea to her peers. She trusted us to take care of both, and we delivered.
The Results: Better Performance, Lower Costs, and Peace of Mind
The move to SiteDistrict resulted in immediate benefits:
- Cost Savings: Radsource began saving about 15% on their hosting fees, even with the improved services offered by SiteDistrict.
- Performance Gains: Prior to the migration, site admins often experienced dashboard freezing and lost work due to glitches—problems that disappeared entirely after the move. Meanwhile, our uptime monitoring showed zero downtime post-migration, compared to monthly outages with WP Engine.
- Improved Security: SiteDistrict’s built-in security eliminated the need for bulky plugins, streamlining both sites’ codebases and reducing potential vulnerabilities.
- Seamless Support: Both Radsource’s internal team and our own have found SiteDistrict’s support team far more responsive and knowledgeable than WP Engine’s, making troubleshooting faster and more efficient.
What’s more, the timing of the migration proved especially fortuitous. Less than a month after we moved Radsource’s sites, WP Engine became embroiled in a lawsuit with Automattic, the company behind WordPress. While the details of that legal drama are complex, the bottom line is this: WP Engine customers saw significant technical disruptions as a result of the fallout. Thanks to our vigilance, deep expertise, and more than a little luck, Radsource avoided those issues entirely—a big win for Melanie and her team.
Why This Matters: Advocacy for Marketing Professionals
At Berry Interesting, we don’t just manage websites—we advocate for the marketing professionals who rely on them. Melanie’s situation is one we see often: as a marketer, she had a clear understanding of the challenges she was facing but lacked the technical standing (or the bandwidth) to push for the changes she knew were necessary.
By trusting us to handle the details, Melanie was able to focus on her priorities: growing Radsource’s brand and developing impactful marketing strategies. Meanwhile, we evaluated the options, cut through the sales jargon, and implemented a solution that truly met the needs of the Senior Director of Marketing and of the organization as a whole.
